The biggest thing that sets us apart from other photography studios is our signature style. From the website that was designed to mimic an old photo album, to the business cards which were printed like original photographs on metal, and finally the handmade keepsake item clients get with their final images, the MVI style and passion can be found throughout. Every MVI shoot is done all digital, then manipulated in post processing to mimic styles of photography throughout the years. Depending on the shoot and the style the client is looking for, we also might shoot through the viewfinder of an antique camera, or using a lens off an antique camera that has been adapted for digital use. We have a few small props available to be used during the shoot, most commonly for ring and detail shots and weddings or engagement sessions.

The primary styles applied in post processing are as follows:
-Daguerreotypes (similar to Ambrotypes or Tintypes) which were the first photographic prints in the 1800s, printed on metal in black and white. Over the years people began hand painting the images to make them seem like color photographs. All of our Daguerreotype images will be black and white
-Sepia (brown) tone images with heavy contrast and grain
-Cross Processed film techniques (which altered colors and often increased contrast), made popular in the 1950s, were the result of intentionally processing film incorrectly. Whether it be the wrong chemicals, the wrong order, or any other variations, caused an unpredictable change
-Aged film prints (discoloration, ripped edges on a border)

While this might seem like a lot of different styles, it is just the beginning! We are constantly learning new things, and are looking forward to every new day, and every new client!
